Professor Søren Rud Keiding has Passed Away

It is with great sadness that SCAS has received the news that Professor Søren Rud Keiding, Director of
our sister institute Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS), passed away on Saturday, 4 March 2023.

In recent years, Søren Keiding and AIAS have collaborated with SCAS on several occasions; frequently
within the Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study (NetIAS), but also on the Beyond Advanced
Studies initiative and NordIAS.

Keiding, who was President of NetIAS in 2021-2022, embodied the NetIAS community spirit to the fullest.
He was warm-hearted, open-minded, and keen to listen to the diversity of ideas emanating from all across
Europe. His contributions to NetIAS and beyond have been multifaceted and significant in so many ways.
He will be deeply missed.
